Secondary School Orchestra - Class "A"
Stan Kopac (1947-2002) was a graduate of the State University of Music in Wroclaw , Poland . An accident cut short his ambitions to be a concert violinist - but his degrees and his excellence in composing and conducting kept him active in the world of music that he so deeply loved.
Stan Kopac studied with other conducting masters and won many awards. He conducted symphony orchestras in Poland , Germany , England , and Canada . However, it was in his conducting at the National Music Camp and with the London Youth Symphony that his spirit will be most effectively remembered. A father as well as a musician, he empathized with the struggles of growing up. He taught, encouraged, challenged, and inspired young people to see that music could be the most potent harmonizing effect in their lives.
