Professor Donald McKellar came to London from Ottawa to initiate London's first secondary school music program at Wheable Collegiate. His work set the standard for London schools.
Professor McKellar went on to help establish the music faculty at the University of Western Ontario , contributing substantially to it becoming one of Canada 's most respected music faculties.

Professor McKellar's contribution can best be illustrated by the fact that most music teachers represented in this festival, at some time benefited from his teachings. He stepped in to help organize the special 40th anniversary concert November 28, 2000 at Centennial Hall.
