SANDI MENNILL TROPHY

Secondary School Multi-cultural Music

Sandi Mennill graduated from the faculties of music and education at Western. She spent most of her thirty-five year teaching career at Sir Frederick Banting Secondary School in London where she enjoyed a wide variety of experiences in education.

This trophy, awarded to the secondary school with the best performance of music exploring other cultures, celebrates her retirement in June of 2002. The trophy was designed and finished by Sandi and was cut and assembled by Roy Phillips and Kris Baker of Phillmore Enterprises.

In keeping with the multi-cultural concept of the trophy, the woods used in building it come from four different countries. The trophy was first presented in Festival 2002.
