Violin

Sonia Klimasko began studying violin at the age of four and has devoted over 50 years to performing, teaching, and inspiring audiences across Canada, the United States, Europe, and Mexico.

She has performed with legendary artists including Tony Bennett, James Brown, and the Bob Hope Orchestra, and has held positions in major productions such as Fiddler on the RoofAnne of Green Gables, and The Phantom of the Opera. Her orchestral work spans many ensembles, and for more than five decades she has been a proud member of the National Ballet of Canada Orchestra.

As an educator, Ms. Klimasko has served as string instructor at the Bishop Strachan School, consultant with the York Region Board of Education, and faculty member at both the National String Academy in Ottawa and CAMMAC. She was a founding artist with the Inner City Angels and has recorded for CBC.

A graduate of the University of Toronto’s Performance program, her teachers include John Moskalyk, David Mankovitz (American String Quartet), and Victor Martin (Concertmaster, Madrid Symphony Orchestra). Her many awards include the Royal Conservatory of Music Provincial Medal and the Chamber of Commerce Award for Excellence in the Arts.

Alongside her performing career, Ms. Klimasko is a sought-after adjudicator and clinician. Outside of music, she is an award-winning gardener and Half Ironman triathlete
