Kate Wright is a renowned performer and educator known for her engaging work with young voices. She is the current founding Artistic Director of the Elora Children's Choir and served as the conductor of multiple vocal ensembles with the Oakville Choir for Children & Youth for 12 seasons.
As a performer, Kate maintains an active singing schedule with the Juno-winning and Grammy nominated Elora Singers, as well as with the Parish Choir at St John's Elora. Kate has also sung with many of Ontario's finest vocal ensembles, including the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, Spiritus Ensemble, The Guelph Chamber Choir, and the Exultate Chamber Singers. Kate has sung on numerous recording projects- most recently, she can be heard on the 2024 debut recording of Stephanie Martin's "A Frost Sequence" with the Elora Singers.
Kate holds a Bachelor of Music Education with Honours in Voice from Western University, and a Bachelor of Education from Queen's University, where she was selected for the highly specialized Arts in the Community (ACE) program. Kate is a member of the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT), and following her degrees, Kate taught K-8 elementary music, including vocal, Orff, guitar, ukulele, and bucket drumming, as well as directed school musicals. She is Orff certified and taught parent-child music classes throughout Toronto as a registered Music Together teacher. She currently teaches with the Upper Grand District School Board.
She is a passionate vocalist known for her ability to elevate the sound of young voices and is delighted to be a part of London's Kiwanis Festival.
