Rob Larose studied classical percussion at the University of Western Ontario, jazz drumming with Roger Flock at Humber College, and Latin percussion with Memo Acevado and Rick Lazar in Toronto. For over 30 years Rob has been a familiar fixture around South Western Ontario performing with numerous groups from jazz and funk to classical and Celtic. As a diversified percussionist Rob is often called upon to play latin hand percussion, drum set and traditional percussion. Most recently Rob has been kept busy as part of the pit orchestra for "Mamma Mia", "Elf", "Tarzan" and numerous other shows both at the Grand Theatre in London, ON and the Imperial Theatre in Sarnia, ON. As an educator Rob ran a private percussion studio in London for 16 years and has been guest clinician for the Ontario Music Educators Association, The Metro Toronto School board and an adjudicator for jazz and percussion performances in Canada and the U.S. Rob was percussion faculty of the National Music Camp of Canada from 1995-1999 and has written a book on Latin Percussion techniques. Currently Rob enjoys teaching as part of the music faculty at the University of Western Ontario where he teaches percussion techniques and world drumming.
